Welcome Brittany Hawes

Brittany Hawes fell in love with writing at a young age, when she first discovered that she could make people laugh with words. She has been writing as a hobby for years. “Twisted“ is the first book she has finished. Her inspiration? Family. When the question, "What would you do for someone you love?" popped into her head, ideas started to bloom. Eventually, Harlot Rue and her journey to find her missing parents were born.     Although her first book is geared towards young adults, she also enjoys writing children and adult stories. Her favorite genre is fiction, mainly because she loves using her imagination. She became interested in secret agents after years of playing James Bond video games with her siblings. When she is not writing, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, dancing (poorly) with music videos, and singing.    Her future plans include finding a career in writing, traveling the world (starting with Los Angeles), and getting her own dog. She currently resides with her family in Florida, and attends Chipola College, where she majors in Communications. She is close to receiving her AA degree from Chipola College. She plans on transferring to a university in the next year, where she will begin working towards earning a Bachelor's degree.                      Her debut novel, “Twisted”, is the first book in the Twisted series and is published by Deep Sea Publishing. The next installment in the series is in the works and will be completed soon!

Renae, Zedra, and Emily, (Zedra’s granddaughter) enjoyed the Wausau Possum Day Festival! They walked the crowds and even met the former Senator, Bob Graham!
Encouraging people to help, that day only, for a fundraiser for the     library!
Note that Emily got into the picture with Renae, while Zedra was taking pictures!

Chipley Main Branch

Staff from the Chipley Branch has been and still are, on the road!
From Summer Read, to attending open houses for the schools,  and making connections in our county for outreach events.
It has not been a boring summer!
New adult large-print, children’s books, and children’s and adult
fiction audios along with numerous DVD’s have been cataloged for you. Come check us out!

Sunny Hills Branch

We're getting new books and movies ready each week at Sunny Hills Library.  Our science fiction and fantasy section is expanding.  We have numerous new suspense titles and some of the latest Christian Fiction.  The residents have been generous with donations, so we always have magazines and good swap books to loan.  The DVD section is expanding thanks to one thoughtful patron.

 Wausau Library

has had a lively summer with numerous new residents moving in and discovering the library.  We've had readers, movie lovers, and folks who just need a cool place to hang out for a while.  We have new families with preschoolers, so we've had a couple of impromptu storytimes.  We've proctored some college exams, looked up medical information, shown people how to find resume guides on line, and much more.  We even recommend a good read now and then.  We have many new titles in our new book section, so come by and see what you'd like to read next.

The May adventure of FLA ~ Dorothy, Zedra and Barbara stopped for a photo op at the FLA sign.

All libraries will be closed for inventory
September 8th—September 12, 2014.

We will re-open on September 15, 2014.

I hope that everyone had a quiet summer.  It was anything but quiet here at the Library.  Offerings included children and adult summer reading programs that entertained and informed.
Patrons checked out thousands of items, and the Library was filled with hundreds of people trying to escape the heat with a cool read.  But the Library staff did not remain in the building the entire time.

Staff members were seen at an informational booth during the Panhandle Watermelon Festival and fundraising while everyone enjoyed the Wausau Possum event.  It was a tiring summer but a successful one.  But there is no rest for the weary.

Next comes the necessary September inventory, an October community needs assessment, and a marketing campaign beginning January of 2015 that will ensure the best Library services for County residents.  Remember, suggestions and comments about Library services always are welcome, and your thoughts provide good direction for improvement.
