May Newsletter

Friends of the Washington County Public Library

Welcome Nancy Springer!

The Friends of the Library will meet at noon on Thursday, May 4th, at the Blue Lake Community Center, on Highway 77, in Chipley. Our speaker on Thursday, Nancy Springer, will be making a 2nd visit to Friends to share thoughts about her book, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline: An Enola Holmes Mystery, that is nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America. This is the fifth volume of her series about Sherlock Holmes' younger sister. Nancy was born in New Jersey, moved to Pennsylvania when she was thirteen, and spent the next forty-six years there. She married a man named Springer, producing offSpringers, and writing more than fifty fantasy, horror, mystery, and contemporary novels for adults and children. In 2007, she and her second husband moved to Tri-County Airport between Bonifay and Chipley, where they lived in their hangar. But now they purchased a house nearby. Nancy very much enjoys wildflowers, butterflies, alligators, and other lizards while completing the sixth volume of her Enola Holmes mystery series. She also donates her time by going into the area schools and sharing her love of writing to the students. She is an entertaining speaker who you do not want to miss hearing! Everyone is invited to attend!

Those who did not attend the April meeting will be able to pick up a yearbook. Inga wishes to apologize for the typo errors in the yearbook and the inadvertant omission of Marlene Ray from the list of members.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful summer.
