We are approaching the holiday season and this means that our last meeting of the Friends for the year will be Thursday, November 7, 2013. We will have our luncheon meeting in the Ag Center at noon. Our hostesses for that meeting are Leola Porter and Pat Graham. Tara Sanders will provide an assortment of delicious lunch entrees’ from which we can choose.
On November 7th, the Nominations Committee, consisting of Susan Roberts, Chairman, Sarah Franklin, and Jeanne Lavender will present us with a slate of officers and board members. We will vote on these at that time and they will be installed at our January meeting.
Something we need to think about: Our January meeting is scheduled for the first Thursday of the month which happens to fall on January 2nd. Is this something we need to rethink and move to the following week or do we go ahead with the January 2nd meeting? Discuss among yourselves and let me know what your think. At the January meeting members usually review a book that they have read and enjoyed recently. This is a good and enjoyable meeting.
Also, some of you have mentioned a Book Sale which we usually have in the fall. Let me know your thinking on this - do we try to do it before the holidays, during the holidays, or early next year. We usually make around $300 - $400 dollars on the sale. We will discuss this at the next Board meeting which is October 31st.
I have been blessed to work with the Friends of the Washington County Library. You are a wonderful group and I find your interest in the library uplifting. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the support you have given me as the president. I look forward continuing to enjoy my association with Friends and the Library Staff. You uplift me every time I see you.
Let Ruth McCrary know by noon on Monday, November 4 what your selection for lunch will be.
