Friends of the Library guest author for the October 7th meeting will be Bruce Gamble of Lynn Haven. A freelance author and World War II historian will share his recently released book, "Fortress Rabaul: The Battle for the Southwest Pacific, January 1942-May 1943". The Washington County Public Library would like to inform you of the latest and greatest happenings. We’ve been quite busy filling up our calendar with events for the public.

October 13th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Renae will be hosting a Job Start Program where local school and job resources will talk about their services available for you.

October 14th starting at 6:30pm, Linda will be having an organizational meeting for interested Bell Ringers! The Washington County Library and the Washington County Arts Council offer you and your children an opportunity to try something brand-spanking new. Your child can become a charter member of this county’s new hand bell performers. And to make life a little more interesting, an alternative method of making music known as boomwhackers also will be introduced. So, if the hand bells initiative does not ring your child’s chimes, maybe the boomwhackers portion will strike a harmonious chord. All of you--kids and caregivers alike--need to join us at the public library in Chipley on October 14th, at 6:30 P.M. Want to know more?? The Washington County Library would like to invite you and your children to an organizational meeting of the children’s hand bell performers and boomwhackers community effort. The children must be ages 6 through 12 for the younger group, and 13 through 18 for the older group. At this meeting, we will discuss when to practice, possible names for the groups, and types of music to be performed. The whole purpose of the program is to introduce area youth to the joys of playing and appreciating music. Performance etiquette and team-building skills also will be important parts of this program’s focus. For more information, or if you would like to volunteer to be a mentor to some future boomwhacker star, call Linda Norton at (850) 638-1314.

October 19th feel free to stop by the Ag Center for the Senior Expo show and see us from 9am – 1pm!
